ADOPTION PROCESS
If you would like to be considered as a new mum or dad to any of our little sweethearts looking for their forever home please fill out the pre adoption form and send it back to us. the link to the form is below.
Please note though, we cannot hold piggies indefinitely for you.
Before filling out the form have a wee think of some of their basic requirements - The housing size is very important. We will not allow our boys and girls to go and live in a house smaller than required
HOUSING
Please take a look at our guinea pig care section for more detailed information on housing sizes.
Not all guinea pigs use ramps so make sure this is the ground space. Runs can be attached, separate or where possible and safe free roaming is ways great to keep them stimulated. piggies love to play and need lots of exercise every day.
If you have any queries about cage sizes, please dont hesitate to give us a message as all setups are different and may be suitable for the piggies you are looking to adopt.
AGE
Although books and stores may say their average lifespan is 5-7 years please remember this is just average. Some piggies can live to be over 10
FOOD
Guinea pigs need 24/7 access to a good pile of grass hay as this is what keeps their guts healthy and constantly moving.
Piggies also will need good quality pellets to keep them happy and healthy. At the centre Science Selective or Burgess are our main brands of food we feed the piggies, they are a very high quality food and all the piggies love it. We do not reccomend feeding the muesli types as this encourages selective feeding.
Veggies are also a great thing to feed we have a full list of veggies to feed on our Safe Fruit and Veg page
BONDING
If you are looking so rehome a single piggy from us to bond with your current guinea pig we always have plenty of singles available. We regularly do piggy dating at the centre where you bring your piggy in and we find a match for them. We highly reccommend this for boy bondings as boys can be very picky over who can be their friend and we cannot find a successful match without them meeting each other.
As girls are alot easier to bond it is possible to bond your new piggy at home, we do however require that if you havent got piggies from us already, we must confirm that your piggies are the correct sexes as they can very commonly be mis sexed.
PLEASE DO NOT THINK ABOUT BREEDING FROM ANY OF OUR BOYS OR GIRLS.
Most of our piggies are either too old or have been through enough in their lives.
If you are found to be breeding piggies which have been adopted from us then we will have them returned to the centre.
Please dont ask for piggies for christmas or birthday presents. your application will sadly be rejected. our centre closes its doors over the christmas and new year period but the girls and boys can be reserved till after the festivities are finished
